September 44th IFEST organized by UNCC with the support of AF
Saturday 21, 2019 The International Festival is centered on booths arranged in colorful marketplace style representing the cultures of over 50 nations. The booths are staffed by UNC Charlotte international students and members of Charlotte's international community, like the Alliance Française, and feature art, crafts and costumes from each participating country. Many booths offer international food for sale.  Go and try the French crêpes!

The term Mechoui "refers to the method of cooking a lamb or a sheep cooked whole on the spit" like a huge BBQ. The Charlotte annual Mechoui is a gathering with Francophone and American friends around this traditional meal. The cooking time varies according to the weight of the animal, typically about a half day. While the lamb cooks family and friends enjoy games and drinks.

Thursday 10 to Saturday 12, 2019 The Society for Interdisciplinary French Seventeenth-Century Studies (SE17) is a dynamic international community of scholars committed to the research and teaching of all aspects of seventeenth-century French culture and history. The Society offers, both on-line and at annual conferences, a forum for the exploration and discussion of ideas related to the Grand Siècle and, more broadly, early modern France, from an interdisciplinary perspective. SE17 includes members with diverse approaches to the study of early modern France and draws presenters to its annual meetings from the fields of literature, history, music, dance, theater, and art history. Come and join the 38th annual conference coming to Charlotte!

January GALETTES DES ROIS / KING'S CAKE organized by AF 
Sunday 12, 2020 The galette des rois is a cake traditionally shared at Epiphany, on 6 January. It celebrates the arrival of the Three Wise Men in Bethlehem. This traditional French holiday, la Fête des Rois is a festive event and an opportunity for families to gather for some delicious Galette des Rois (King's cake). ... If it's your lucky day, your piece of galette will hold the fève (a charm hidden inside the cake) and you will be crowned king or queen of the day!
February CHANDELEUR / CREPES DAY organized by AF and free for AF members
Sunday 2, 2020 In France, the month of February starts with the celebration of Candlemas – la Chandeleur – which occurs on the 2nd, which is 40 days after Christmas. ... The origins of the Chandeleur date back to a pagan feast: according to local customs, candles had to be lit at midnight as a symbol of purification and crêpes were shared. Though crêpes are great any time of year, it's a tradition in France to serve them on February on that day, who became known as Crêpe Day, referring to the ritual of offering crêpes.

Saturday 21, 2020 The Charlotte Francophone Festival's mission is to promote the French language by raising awareness of the richness and diversity of Francophone cultures from around the world. Every year in March, Francophone Festivals are organized around the world, featuring a variety of cultural and educational events.This year the AFC organize a Festival about Francophone Cuisine and Gastronomy! April INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL organized by UNCC with the support of AF

Experience the rich world of contemporary films from various countries at the International Film Festival hosted by the UNC Charlotte Department of Languages and Culture Studies and some student organizations such as the French Club. The festival takes place on the UNC Charlotte campus. The screenings and related special events are free and open to the public, and all films are subtitled.
June  75th D DAY DINNER organized by Bienvenue Charlotte, FACCC, and with the support of AF
Thursday 6, 2019 The 70th anniversary of D-day was commemorated on June 6, the day that Western Allied forces landed in Normandy thereby paving way for the liberation of France. Annual celebrations have taken place since June 6, 1945, date of the 1st celebration. From very early on, the D-day anniversary became a major event that benefited from significant communication campaigns. The war caused countless casualties and considerably impoverished the country. Commemorating the Allied forces and their sacrifices allows for a collective memory to stay fresh so that past errors will never be repeated. Please come and join us to honor the veterans!
June AF GENERAL ASSEMBLY DAY organized by AF for AF members only / free
Sunday 9, 2019 The general meeting consists of all members registered on the date on which the meeting is convened. The assembly listens to the financial and moral reports of the association. It decides upon the provisional budget and the events for the following financial year. The members discusses all other items on the agenda and provides for the election of members of the board of directors. The meetings is also a time to share foods, drinks and ideas.
June MUSIC FESTIVAL organized by AF
Friday 21, 2019 "Music Festival" is a free celebration of music around the world on June 21st. Launched in 1982 in France as the "Fete de la Musique", it is now held on the same day in more than 800 cities in 120 countries. Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician – young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion – pour into the streets, parks, plazas and halls to share their music with friends, neighbors and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public.
